Just To Be Nominated

Riley Audrey won the Academy Award for Best Actress after a long and arduous campaign. Later that night, she was found dead in a hotel room. Someone was not happy with her win. Leo Gold and Terri McPherson are the hosts of the popular award prediction podcast Just to Be Nominated. And they believe they hold the key to solve Riley's death. Week by week, they'll go back to listen to interviews they did with the major players and contenders of a controversial award season, and try to put the pieces together of who killed Riley Audrey.

THE ARTIST:

Jorge Molina, LALIFF Program Manager

Jorge Molina was born and raised in a suburb of Mexico City, and came to the US to receive a BFA in the Writing for Film and Television program of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. In late 2016, Jorge participated as a showrunner’s assistant with the television reboot of the 1989 cult film classic Heathers. Since then, he has become very active as a programmer in the film festival circuit, in places like Outfest, the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, and the Sundance Film Festival. In early 2019, Jorge’s murder mystery feature script Detective James Mortensen and the Case of the Golden Candelabra was accepted into the Outfest Screenwriting Lab, and he wrote and executive produced the short film Muy Gay Too Mexicano, which was recently acquired by HBO Max for distribution in the fall of 2021. He is currently the creator and showrunner of the award season murder mystery scripted podcast “Just to Be Nominated”. He is also the co-founder and director of IMFest, an organization for and by young immigrant artists that showcases their art and connects them with the larger Hollywood community.
