Ian Skorodin (CEO, Barcid Foundation; Director of Strategy, Native American Media Alliance)

Ian Skorodin (Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma) graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and began his directing career with an award winning feature film, entitled Tushka, based on the murder of a Native American activist’s family. After premiering at Sundance, it went on to win Best Feature at the Arizona International Film Festival. In addition to his creative work, Skorodin founded the Barcid Foundation to address the lack of Native American representation in entertainment and created the LA SKINS FEST. He is currently overseeing post-production on his fifth documentary. This one pertaining to the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe's struggle and resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Karissa Valencia is a California Native --- literally! She grew up between sunny San Diego and the Santa Ynez Chumash Reservation. She is passionate about animation and has written for preschool favorites such as Disney Junior’s "Vampirina", "Doc McStuffins", "T.O.T.S" and "The Chicken Squad". She is currently the Showrunner and Executive Producer of Netflix Animation’s upcoming preschool series "Spirit Rangers", which follows the fantastical adventures of a modern day Native American family who live in a National Park. She resides in Los Angeles.
